Fun at Discovery World

Lotions and Potions at the Otago Museum

We made elephant toothpaste at the Museum. We put in detergent , food colouring, hydrogen peroxide and yeast as ingredients. The yeast caused a chemical reaction and the mixture flowed out over the bottle and into the container. We had no elephants so we could not see if it worked!!
We also made lava lamps where we found out that oil always separates when mixed with water. We made cabbage indicators to help us find out if things were acid( the mixture turned pink) or alkaline( the mixture turned blue. We also made a volcano with mentos and coke, and cap rockets.
We had lots of fun and we learnt alot.

The Highlander

The Highlander came to our school to tell us about healthy eating. It is very important the Highlanders rugby team live healthy lives to play well. Some of the things we learnt were to drink lots of water, eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Always eat breakfast, lunch and tea. We also found out that it is good to stay active and always have fun!!
